Rest in Peace Bella! We will miss you a lot.

I am writing this with heavy paws.   Today we had to send Bella to the Rainbow Bridge.   Her cancer had grown and she was no longer comfortable, even with heavy doses of pain medications.  It progressed suddenly in only two days to the point that she could not find a position that she could rest in that did not hurt, then the pain medications would kick in and she would go to sleep from the medications, which is not a way to rest.

We enjoyed Bella while we had her, and we have many happy times to remember.   She went with dignity and she went while her golden days were still golden.   When she was diagnosed, she was given about 90 days.   She held on for 110 days before her pain became unmanageable.

We are very sad to be without her, but we are happy that she is resting and free of pain.  She will be chasing squirrels before sundown today, and sleeping peacefully tonight.

I am restless, it is hard to be without my friend.   The Paw Challenged ones have sent word to the rescue that we could take in a foster again.   Maybe we can fill the house with goden love again.

  4. Nice tribute to Bella, Mogley. We are sad, as all people are when we lose a wonderful dog to cancer. We like to think of her, like you do, romping across the Bridge and finding her old pals.

    Cheers,

  11. Oh, Mogley, I am so sorry to hear of Bella's death. I have thought of her often and was hoping for the best. I am glad you got to spend some quality time with her after her diagnosis.
I know how hard it is for your parents. And I worry for you also. Good to hear that even more golden love will be coming to spread its warmth.

    A Young Dog Once Again

You're giving me a special gift,
    So sorrowfully endowed,
And through these last few cherished days,
    Your courage makes me proud.
But really, love is knowing when your
    best friend is in pain,
    And understanding earthly acts
    Will only be in vain.
So looking deep into your eyes,
    Beyond, into your soul,
I see in you the magic that will
    Once more make me whole.
    The strength that you possess,
Is why I look to you today,
To do this thing that must be done,
    For it's the only way.
That strength is why I've followed you,
And chose you as my friend,
And why I've loved you all these years...
    My partner till the end.
Please, understand just what this gift
    You're giving, means to me,
It gives me back the strength I've lost,
    And all my dignity.
You take a stand on my behalf,
For that is what friends do.
And know that what you do is right,
    For I believe it, too.
So one last time, I breathe your scent,
And through your hand I feel,
    The courage that's within you,
    To grant me this appeal.
Cut the leash that holds me here,
Dear friend, and let me run,
Once more a strong and steady dog,
    My pain and struggle done.
    And don't despair my passing,
For I won't be far away,
    Forever here, within your heart,
    And memory I'll stay.
I'll be there watching over you,
    Your ever-faithful friend,
And in your memories I'll run,
... a young dog once again

  13. Rest in Peace, Bella. We know you are running in The Big Green Field, carefree and joyful, a forever pup again. How lucky you were to have a home of such love.

We think of you still here; Mogley and your peeps and the other goldens who miss her. We wish you more golden fur...but your home is already clearly full of love.

  14. RIP Bella, you're in God's care now. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know Bella's a great companion. It pains to see me knowing a dog succumbs to health problems. Just be strong.

  17. I just saw this and I am so sorry for your loss. My sweet GRRR Angel JJ met Bella at the gates and I am sure they are playing like goldens are supposed to. I know how hard this is, JJ left us on June 26th. But, as you say, they are no longer in pain and running free. My heart goes out to your family.
