Importing Weather

Stella with her favorite duck!

We have some beautiful snow outside, but we were locked in the house after only two hours of play.   Molly thought the Koi pond ice looked strong enough to hold a golden.  It wasn't, she had a very cold swim, so we were locked in the house till she could dry off.   When they called us all in to lock the dog door, Nala came in limping and they accused us of playing too rough with Nala.   It turns out that she just had ice build up between her toes and she was limping on all four feet.   So staying inside melted the ice and cured her limp while it dried off Molly.

The human is all upset.   He says that some of our friends just came back from Hawaii and reported that there was beautiful weather there.  Meanwhile our government has imported all of this nasty weather from Canada.  According to the weather forecast, this Canadian cold front is responsible for all the snow and cold we have across our country, as well as all the rain and mudslides in California.

Meanwhile we have perfectly good weather going to waste in Hawaii.   Does it make sense that our government would import weather from Canada when we have perfectly good warm weather we are not even using in Hawaii?   Isn't there some kind of a law that we should try to avoid imports?   Write your Congressman, write your Senator, stop this travesty.   Next time a storm cloud goes by, look for the label, "Made in Hawaii, USA".

At ten this morning the humans watched the New Years celebration in Hong Kong, they lifted their glasses of Metamucil in a toast.  Then about noon they watched the fireworks over Dubai.  They said that now they won't have to stay up late tonight, they have already celebrated the new year.  Boy, what a bunch of boring friends we live with.    Molly and I are prepared to find something to bark at at midnight!

We listened in while our human talked with a person that is interested in taking Stella to help her through the operations.  They will need to meet Stella and they will need to make sure she gets along with their current resident Golden/Lab.  Their current lady is pretty laid back, she is a retired assistance dog.  Stella is a very high energy lady, and she may be too much for their retiree.  Several other goldens are also being considered, so we are very preliminary.   We have many Goldens in the rescue that are wonderful and worthy of such a wonderful home.  Besides, some people continue to suggest that Stella already has found her new home, we just have not admitted it yet.

Have a Happy New Year!
Mogley G. Retriever

  1. Mogley,
I certainly hope you enjoy your evening...don't stay up too late!
Happy New Year to you and many blessings in 2011!

  2. Don't worry - my parents are Super Boring, too. They'll watch the ball drop in NY (10pm our time) and then go to bed. Party animals they are not! We know all about that cold feet thing - we want to stay out and play, but Mom insists we come in when we start lifting our feet off the ground because our pads are cold. *sheesh* However, we do get to spend the next couple of hours licking the snow/ice off our legs, and from between our toes, so it isn't all bad! ;-) Happy New Year!!!

PeeEss: We think Stella has already found her home.... :-)

  3. I hope it all works out for Stella!

I wish I could skip the New Years stuff, but there is a bridge about two miles from my house that they blast fireworks off...twice! Once at 9 and once at midnight! Hard to sleep thru that!

Happy new year Mogley, and many, many more.

  4. Mogley, don't blame our government for the bad weather. It is really Russia that is sending this Canadian air our way. Sarah Pallin probably got them mad by watching them from her bedroom window.

We are glad things get moving with forever homes for the fosters in general -- I hope Nala is not one of them. Poor baby had frozen toes. We do hope the weather is getting better so you can all play outside and don't drive the two-legged ones to eat rumballs.

Oh yeah, mommie wants to know if Metamucil is something close to Chateau Lafite 1968.

  5. Happy New Year Mogley & family, you have brought us many smiles and some tears during 2010.
We hope that 2011 is the best every for you and our Golden Friends everywhere.

Now I will drop an ice cube in my Metamucil and wait for midnight......

  6. Happy 2011 to all!

We'll do our best to make through several timezones - although we should have napped in preparation!

    Paws khrossed fur Stella -

  7. Hong Kong and Dubai! Wow, your family really gets around! :)

  8. Happy, Healthy 2011 to all of you at your house.
I am issueing a home freeze where all dogs who are fosters at homes they love, get to stay their furever! Shazam! There I did it!

Aw, its nothing, its easy to do it if you know how.

Stella, Mom and Zkhat (Rescues one and all!)

  9. Mogley, it does sound like you were all trying to make the New Year a bit more exciting by seeing if Molly could walk on water--Here the crew wanted me to play 'hide 'n seek' outside in the dark!' Red Goldens are hard to see at night...

But I do hope that if Stella's date goes well with the Golden/Lab!

Happy New Year and good-health and all the best to you and your family in 2011!

  10. You are truly a brilliant dog. If they import the weather from Hawaii, then you could re-open the cement pond! P.S. You are soooo funny - toasting their Metamucil glasses :) My humans were pretty wild a crazy too, sleeping on the couch before 10 PM.

  11. I am so happy the weather has started to get better in Cali

  12. Hi Y'all!

Hmmm. I thought the bad weather came from N. Korea. I heard the Humans saying something about N. Korea wishing bad stuff on us. I thought Canada was a friend. Why would a friend do something so nasty?

I have real exciting Humans too. They saw the New Year arrive in Australia via the tele. They went to an early dinner and then before the neighbors finished setting off their fireworks, they went to bed! I had to bark loud to rouse them! But they just went back to bed again. I gave up and went to sleep too.

    Happy New Year!!!

  13. Mogley,

Just stopped back to tell you that I haven't noticed much difference yet, but so far the Humans think 2011 is lookin' pretty good.

I'll have a better idea if 2010 is still hangin' around in a couple of weeks.

    Enjoy all your playmates!

  14. Happy New Year - looks like the Golden party is going well even if you have had a few icy upsets!

    Wags N Kisses,

  15. Oh Stella! Sounds like she will be loved wherever she finds forever my be yours :)
Weather....well...our watershed reservoirs are at full capacity, which they have not been for some years. So, one good note :)
