Sadie's vet visit

Sadie left early yesterday morning to visit the vet. When she arrived back home late in the afternoon, it was a different Sadie. We thought she had dressed up for the Halloween party early, that was not it at all. Sadie had five broken and abscessed teeth. You can see that the right side of her face (the left side in the photo) is swollen. She had a large cyst on her back, it was taken off. When she was spayed before she arrived at GRRR she was shaven and ended up with massive razor burn on her tummy. She gets some medicine on her tummy to help that feel better. The T shirt is to keep her, and us from licking her stitches on her back. She is also getting ear drops to make her ears better. Her pain pills keep her sleeping most of the time.
.
She did not like her vet visit very much. She is happy that she now gets caned food. The canned food smells so much better than the dry stuff that Bella and I get. She should share, but the Treat Vendor does not see it our way. He did give Bella, Junior and I a little in our bowls to spice up the dry food, but that does not quite make up for her getting the better food. On the other hand, she is not going to get a rawhide chew for a while, Bella, Junior and I will get all of them. We now understand why she had such a hard time eating her dry food and why she did not like chew toys.
.
We hope that Sadie gets better quickly.

  1. Oh my! 5 bad teeth. That hurts just to think about it. I'm amazed that she hasn't been complaining! But it's good that she's finally got someone to take care of her!!

  7. Oh Sadie Lady-
Thank goodness you came to rescue and they helped with those bad teeth. Good thing is us dogs rebound pretty good from bad teeths.

  8. Thank you for watching out for Sadie, though - I'm sure you will get more soft food. Work on the begging eyes, that always does wonders for Sam!

  9. Hey Mogley,
Y'all should see a big improvement in Sadie now that she's had her teeth problem fixed. Our Old Bear Dog had an abcessed canine tooth that had to be removed. It had made his breath stink and he could hardly eat when mom and dad adopted him The tooth was totally black under his gum line. He eventually went back to eating kibble and rawhides, but it took a while. J.E.B. had tooth problems too. Mom studies that stuff in LVT college. She said that bad teeth, especially abcesses, can cause toxicity problems that can actually damage our hearts and even kill us if not treated. We have picture of Homer J. wearing his t-shirts and sweat shirts just like Sadie so that he wouldn't lick his stiches and we couldn't help him either. Poor Sadie has been through a lot so she needs your understanding if she enjoys a few little perks; she has paid the price for them.
